Plastrum Limewash is a breathable coating for use over drywall, cement board, latex/oil paint, gypsum and other modern materials. Interior and Exterior use.
Made with our specialty high calcium lime putty and our proprietary earth binder. This is an easy choice for healthy walls!
Apply with our white wash brush in order to achieve the traditional texture of limewashing. We’ve found that a cross hatch pattern, using a brush, gives the best aesthetic. As always, do a test area/practice area to determine the finish before tackling the entire project.
Start by misting the surface with clean water. This prevents flash drying. Applying without dampening the surface can lead to flash drying, uneven texture and failure. Curing occurs as the limewash dries, typically over 24 hours.
Protect from heat, direct sun, precipitation, and frost until cured. Apply additional coats as needed after the previous coats are thoroughly dry. Mix the limewash prior to and during use. The Plastrum Limewash is not recommended over substrates that contain salt, areas that are constantly wet, or below grade exterior applications. Any of our pigments are compatible.
