Description
Plastrum Lime Primer is a natural lime primer for use under our Plastrum Lime Plasters. It is designed for use over drywall, blueboard, cement board, previously painted surfaces and even foam board.
Made from the same high PH, high calcium, carbonating, aged lime putty that we are known for with the addition of fine aggregate and our proprietary earth based binder to ensure adhesion to a multitude of surfaces.
Installation Hints:
- Prepare the surface as flat as possible. For drywall a taped and sanded surface is best. Uneven surfaces will show thru the plaster. Best practice is to prepare the surface as flat and smooth as possible.
- Before priming, cover and mask surfaces. Wear proper gloves, safety glasses and any other personal protective equipment to avoid the primer from contacting skin.
- Mix well before using. The small aggregate in the primer will settle to the bottom of the pail. Stir or mix thoroughly before and during application to ensure even distribution of the aggregate.
- Make sure the surface is free from silicone, oils, excessive dust and other things that will inhibit adhesion. Always perform a test area to test adhesion.
- Apply using a brush. Use long strokes of the brush with even pressure to ensure even distribution. Avoid “lumps” or excessive build-up of the aggregate. These areas may telegraph through the plaster. Using a roller will cause the aggregate in the primer to build up into the nap of the roller causing uneven distribution.
- Allow primer to fully dry before applying the Plastrum Lime Plaster. Dry times will vary depending on temperature and humidity levels but under normal conditions it will be dry and ready to plaster after 24 hours.
- Cover Plastrum Lime Primer with Plastrum Lime Plaster within 7 days after installation.
Store unused primer with the lid on tight in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight.
Water cleanup before it dries. After it dries it will be very difficult if not impossible to remove from surfaces and fabric.
