Join Us in Learning How to Use Traditional Lime in this 2 Day Training Class!

The Water Street Book Bindery was built in 1825 and is approximately 600 ft². One of the oldest and well known buildings in Lancaster City. The building was recently sold and has had a lot of bad repairs in the last two centuries, much like many of today’s historic buildings do.

Training Class Topics Include

• Portland Removal and Brick Re-Pointing on old soft bricks
• Paint Removal on historic buildings built with lime mortar
• Basement parging 
• Limewashing
• Interior Lime Horsehair plaster repair – both the top coat and finish coat 
• Lime Mortar 101
• Time for Q&A

Lunch will be provided. This is a two day class. Lodging is not included. Lancaster City and the surrounding county has many wonderful places to stay! Stay the weekend! Make some new friends! This class will be rain or shine, plan accordingly. Wear old clothes, closed toed shoes and bring safety glasses. Safety glasses are a must. Lime in the eye is an awful experience. 

Class is limited to 10. We hope to offer this class again in March weather depending.
