Description
Our Marble White Lime Mortar is non-hydraulic carbonating mortar that is very white in color. It absorbs carbon dioxide in order to set. Use for bedding, pointing and plastering. This mortar has no pigments and contains a blend of marble dusts. This was a custom blend for a customer that we thought was lovely! Add any of our pigments to tint. Use also as a plaster, (see plaster installation instructions here).
Marble White Lime Mortar comes wet in a 5 gallon bucket and weighs approximately 86 pounds. Each bucket will re-point about 65 ft.² for a 3/8″ wide mortar joint at 3/4″ deep.
To begin: Remove the water on the top of the mortar, and save that water to put back on top if needed. We recommend using a beater attachment to “knock up” (mix rigorously for 5 minutes) before using. This energizes the calcium in the mortar.
For areas of high exposure such as chimneys and foundations: Adding pozzolan can be recommended. Pozzolan is a type of clay that makes Lime Putty mortars more durable and robust in extreme environments. Click here to read more about pozzolan.
