Mortar and Sand Analysis

Do I need a Mortar or Sand Analysis to Re-point my historic home? Most often the answer is no. Occasionally there are times that a Mortar Analysis is necessary. If you want an exact match of the original mortar, a mortar analysis is recommended. We will take apart the mortar, determine the percentage of lime, send you a sand graph, and return to you the sand in vials for you to locate your specific sand locally. 

When do I need a Sand Analysis? If you are buying Lime Putty and supplying your own sand it is critical that the sand be correct to avoid failure. Our sand that we offer here is perfect to make lime mortar or to use with NHL’s. Keep in mind the sand color largely determines the mortar color.
