Bentonite

is a natural expanding clay. When exposed to moisture, it can expand to 15 times its size—and more. If your building was built with lime mortar, bentonite powder is a must. Lime mortar dissolves when exposed to wet conditions for prolonged periods of time. Moisture can wreak havoc on your foundation!

Mixing the correct ratio of bentonite into your soil will prevent surface water from penetrating into your foundation. The goal is to create a relatively impervious layer around your foundation that won’t allow water to pass through during precipitation events. Ratios will vary depending on the soil.
